Re: New Golf Cart owner - 89 Yamaha G2 Gas - runner for $200~!
OK.... Looks like the right King Pin is loose, and the carb bowl seal is leaky. Should I rebuild the original carb or is there a way to tighten it down? I see those china tune-up kits but they look a bit sketchy in the carb category!
Thanks Bruce |

Re: New Golf Cart owner - 89 Yamaha G2 Gas - runner for $200~!
Welcome, and post up some pics!
Definitely rebuild the original, make sure it says "Mikuni" on the side and not "Mokini". I'd pull the carb apart and check it all out, make sure it's clean. About the only thing the china carbs are good for are the gaskets, and maybe the plastic linkage attachment piece the cable attaches to at the top. For that, they're a good deal at under $20. But that's about all they're good for, I wouldn't use anything else from them. Make sure you adjust the valves too, can make a huge difference in how it runs! |

Re: New Golf Cart owner - 89 Yamaha G2 Gas - runner for $200~!
Thanks guys! The left king pin looked somewhat new, the right one I bought a kit on ebay for and now I know why it wasn't replaced by the previous owner! It was seized in there tight! I lot of PB Blaster, hammering, Dremmel, etc and I finally got it out. The one that was in there had plastic bushings... My kit must be better as it has metal bushings!
I was able to find a genuine Yamaha float bowl gasket on ebay $8 shipped. Can I just lower the bowl down and replace it without removing the carb/linkage? Seems like I should... There are pictures of the cart on the first post! Bruce |
