Default Brake Pedal Part Missing

I have just purchased a G14a. With it came a rod which attaches to the rear of the park brake.

I cannot find where the other end goes. I suspect something is missing.

Having never owned a cart before I am guessing that this rod is for locking the park brake.

However, on mine there is a broken spring which looks like it is to hold the park brake locking arm off until pressed with the foot pedal.

Because the spring is broken, when the pedal is pushed hard enough gravity drops the lock arm in, so it does work ok.

I suspect that due to the spring being broken is why the rod has been removed.

Can anyone help me as to where the other end goes?
Is something missing?

Below is a pic of the rod.

Below is a parts diagram of a G22. I could not find one for a G16 but it looks the same. It is the bottom of part 20 which has me stumped. Even from the parts diagram I can't figure out where it goes where it goes.

From what i remember on my g16 it just kind of hooks under a tab and a spring puts pressure on it. If I'm at my shop today i will take a picture.

Found this picture online... Not sure if it helps.

Thanks mattrourke. Yes it helps heaps. I can now see how it works.
As the saying goes, "a picture is worth a thousand words"

It just seems strange how the lower end with the hook just sits there not actually connected to anything.

Cheers Dave.
