Wanting to buy a beater golf cart to learn about golf carts. I have been told to get a Yamahal cart over anything else. Is there a go to Cart That everyone like to build - rebuild because it has a better frame, parts, system or something.

Have my eye on a 1999 G16 and a 2009 G29 Which one should I get? $1000 difference between the two. Are the frames really much Different? My plan is to make it a Utility type cart that will haul 4 people. I will do wheels/tires, raise it, bumpers, Lights, winch and big block at some point.

Advice appriated

i would imagine parts and accessories for g29 more common and cheaper. wouldn't take much to make it look brand new.

Depends how much you want to spend. When I went through the same thing I ended up with a Yamaha Drive 2. I wanted easy to operate and I needed gas power so I wanted EFI. Next priority was the ride. Drive 2 is the only cart on the market with 4 wheel independent suspension. It uses A-arms with coil springs all the way around instead of leaf springs.
