Default 93 Marathon cables hot

Have a 93 EZGO Marathon (DCS) that seems to be running fine but recently I've noticed that the cables coming off the FNR unit are getting really hot. Specifically the two cables going to the Controller and to a lesser extent, the D cable going to the motor. Does this immediately suggest a specific problem or can anyone suggest the best procedure for troubleshooting?

New Cables, yes all of them. Heck your cables may be original, that only 26 years. Heat coming from cables is lost energy. 10 degree above ambient is enough to effect performance. Several sponsors on this site has great pricing for the full set.

Best thing clean and seal all electrical connections....Best thing would be change out old wires with new if you could afford it...Even better get oversized cables.

Hot cables usually mean under sized cables or loose dirty connections.

I always use tinned 2AWG boat cable. Yes, it is more expensive but when I had my marine electric company I saw too many cases where people used battery cable and experienced overheating and swelling. Maybe it is overkill but the marine cable will last almost forever. In my opinion it is worth the extra peace of mind.

I just notice in my reply I said battery cables. I meant welding cables.
