Bushing worn. Spring was cocking it slightly so it would not slide. Power spring did not help the situation. New rear sliding sheave is only $60 for oem. I should have sprung for one from plowmans or similar. Maybe next summer Ill replace the whole clutch depending on how the new OEM preforms.

Take a look at the input shaft and make sure its smooth and not grooved and there is minimal play between sliding sheave and shaft. Going through this with mine right now... Having to replace my input shaft because its worn and eating rear clutches.

Good luck!

I know for a fact that dealer cost on the sliding sheave kit (sheave, bushing, seals) is more than $60, you aren't getting OEM.

Probably not true OEM. Likely a cheap part. Just getting something to get me to the end of the season. I have not had enough time to really check over the input shaft. No marks on it at 1st glance. Does anyone know what the specks on the shaft and clutch clearances are. I would like to check that.

I have a brand new input shaft in the garage. I’ll measure it today and follow up later.

Great thanks. I was just looking at the grease I was using. The temperature range was only 0-200F. I think I found an issue. That upper temp range is pretty low for that area I think. With the engine heat and belt heat I dont think 200F will cut it.
