98 club car 8 volt
New batteries, meter reads 55 volts. Ran great the day when installed new batteries, now runs at half speed. Thoughts on problem?

Speed sendor would be the first thing that comes to mind.

Re: 98 club car 8 volt
Thanks, I just ran it again, it’s at full speed. So intermittent speed fluctuation. Is the speed sensor attached to the motor on a 98 club car? Does a V-GLIDE play a role? Thanks

Re: 98 club car 8 volt
Admittedly I'm not a Club Car guru, but the symptoms sounded just like what I experienced on a Precedent and an '03 DS. Sorry I cant help more, but there should be plenty of Club Car experts who can.

Re: 98 club car 8 volt
For that to have a speed sensor in '98, it would have to be a Regen 2 cart. If it is, it would have a Run/Tow switch under the seat and a Fwd/Rev Rocker Switch.
If so, you can unplug it to test it. It is on the back on the motor and has 3 wires going into it. |

Re: 98 club car 8 volt
Speed sensor on a Regen 2 will not cause limp mode when it fails. You'll simply lose regen braking. However, if the dynamic braking solenoid (The one with the coils on it) fails to close, it'll cause extremely slow speeds and a lack of power because all power is having to be forced through the resistors rather than passing through the solenoid. Listen closely to both solenoids and make sure you're hearing two clicks when you press the accelerator.
