G1 carburetor vent blows gas/oil
Cleaned my carb ,added new gas,and filters.
Now my cart blows oily/gas out of the vent line. Also noticed my carb float assembly Had a flapper instead of a needle screw,is that correct or did I screw something up |

Re: G1 carburetor vent blows gas/oil
Some of them the float valve needle clips on the flap so it can align with the hole, it wobbles around on there pointing up. The clip is thin wire it just slides on easily, or off.
Something like this: https://f01.justanswer.com/ref/http_...oat_needle.JPG |

Shouldn't those have both the flapper and the needle valve? If you are missing you the needle valve then things aren't right.

Re: G1 carburetor vent blows gas/oil
Here's mine ... there is no clip. the needle fits in the hole where fuel flows in, and the float (ring) is held in by the small rod.

Re: G1 carburetor vent blows gas/oil
About a year ago I decided to take a good look at the cheap Chinese knockoffs for sale on E-Bay, Amazon, etc.
Here's a link to that thread: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...rburetors.html It may have some info for your use, but the point of it was that the cheap knockoffs sometimes work, and sometimes they don't. But they do have some parts that are useable in our original Mikuni carbs. So you can buy one of the mokini carbs, and take it apart to see what parts will work. From my memory, I believe the float needle will work. Ogre |

Re: G1 carburetor vent blows gas/oil
Looks like the easiest thing to do is buy a new carb for $25
Any thoughts |

If it works.....pulls of the mark ok and gives you good top speed.. you got lucky with a copy cat carby...If not pul the needle out and put it in the Jap carby. Remember to set your jet screw at one and a half turns out and go from there. |
