Spewing oil and fuel from breather pipe
Hi everyone,
This repair is probably beyond me but if I could be pointed in the correct direction please. I have 295 Robin from a 1998 TXT. The pipe connected to the lower part of the engine connects with back of the airbox. When the engine runs fluid is pumped out of this tube. Its smells slightly of petrol but the colour suggests there is oil in it. I'm thinking blown head gasket? Thanks in advance BSA |

Re: Spewing oil and fuel from breather pipe
This is not as big of an issue as you think, Check the oil level in the engine, I think you will find it is way over full.
When the needle and seat stick open in the carburetor for whatever reason fuel will fill the engine with gas and cause this. The carburetor needs a good cleaning and the oil needs to be changed a couple of times. Probably wouldn't hurt to change the oil filter/strainer as well. Little triangle looking plate on left lower side of engine. |

Where are my manners....Welcome to BGW!!!!
You will have fun and learn a lot here. You also should go ahead and get the molded OEM breather tube for your engine, I seen other tubing kink and close off. |

Welcome to BGW and I concur 1000% with crash12888 on your situation. There should be about 1 1/2 qts of oil in there and you'll probably drain out about a gallon, more gas than oil.

Re: Spewing oil and fuel from breather pipe
Thank you Crash,
I'll start with both those suggestions then update asap The original breather pipe had splits throughout it so I put this pipe on just a couple of days ago - and yes it does kink quite easily. BSA |

Re: Spewing oil and fuel from breather pipe
UPDATE
Thank you Crash & Sthreatt. Diagnosis spot on Sorry for the delay - the weather has been awful in North Wales last few days so I've had to repair between the heavy showers. Having removed the carb bowl I could see the float pin had come out of one side causing fuel to fill the engine and mix with the oil. I think it was one of those budget Carbs from China. Fixed that then emptied the sump, the first load was like water. I used a cheap 10/30 to do 3 flushes in total. Hopefully all contamination now cleared. Its had a full 18 holes todays, I got soaked, however the buggy ran very well. Tickety Boo! New breather tube on order Bomber |
