Default No spark

Hey guys, I'm putting a cart together for a friend. I had the motor apart to replace the rod and machine the crank. Now everything is back together and I want to run it on the bench before it goes back in the cart. The issue is no spark. There's a spade terminal on the coil, but I dont know where that connects. I assume its a ground going to the rpm limiter but I don't get a spark with it connected or not. At one time I had a weak spark just by turning the motor over by hand, so I ought to see something, right? Any ideas about that spade connector on the coil? Am I missing something? I know the starter is weak, could the motor just not be turning fast enough?

If you removed the coil on disassembly, you most likely have not set the correct gap between coil and flywheel on re assembly. Yes that connector should be for engine kill circuit.

What engine? What year? Some of the earlier engines had separate coil and ignitor, or ignition coil & pulsar / exciter on the old flatheads.

There really isn't any adjustment, but I'll check it anyway. Thats probably what it is.
