Default 36V EZGO Charge indicator blinks

On my 2001 36V EZ GO, I have a question.

It has the typical led voltmeter on the dash. When I leave it plugged in all night, the charger goes from 10-14 amps down to 1-3 amps in the morning and runs like it's got a great charge. But at all times whether it's fully charged or been using it all day, the meter just blinks from the lowest level to one bar up.

If I disconnect a battery from the pack and let it sit for 60 seconds, and reconnect the cable, the charge level goes all the way to the top, but within 5 minutes of driving, goes right back to blinking at the lowest level again. But the cart runs fine and goes all day without slowing down.

I talked to the previous owner, and it did the same thing to him, he put a new set of Trojan batteries in it and no change. They are 2 years old now. I measured the battery voltage in the morning after charging all night, and the batteries read between 6.36 and 6.37 but pack voltage was 40.9 volts. That seems like 100% percent charge.

It didn't do this for the first 6 months or so I owned it, but has been doing it all Summer now.

Any clues? Battery gauge?

Thanks,
Bill

Bill, check your connections for the battery gauge to make sure they are tight, and have a good connection. If all tests out well then your meter is going bad.
