Just noticed, but if this is an 89, then the resistor coils should be in the center of the battery compartment right between the batteries. The comment about the coil by the drivers side rear wheel indicates an earlier model. You need to verify this before buying parts.

@ate50et, it is considered bad form to hijack someone else's thread. Please start a new thread of your own and someone will be happy to help you diagnose your issue(s).

Thanks and good luck.

Sorry getting back so late. And thanks for all the input!
What gap should there be between the whiper are and the board at each position? Yes the coil is above the rear drivers side tire.
Also I noticed when up on stands when I push the pedal there is a spark
bright spark coming from the whiper and board any thoughts?

Inspect the brush contact and the speed buttons(lugs) for pitting and burning. Try to resurface pitted and burned contacts with a sanding block or file. try to keep everything flat ~ You want as close to 100% contact as you can get. There should be a definite separation between stationary lugs .... hope this helps until PG gets back

Take the movable contact off and check the spring tension. If its been hot before or hot multiple times the spring can get weak and won't keep good solid spring pressure on the wiper board contacts. Like scottyb said inspect the contacts and file/grind smooth and flat. Go to the EZGO website and input your serial number and mfr. number and find out what year your cart is. I'm betting it is not a 1989 cart.

the coils job is to get hot, at low speed they will glow red thats common, so if thats your only issue its quite normal when you drive the cart slow or short start and start operation they are doing their job, having said that just take a good look at them and make sure there are no breaks or cracks in them.................................

No,Technically speaking, that indicates messed up contacts Have you looked at them closely yet? Likely the whole speed wiper board is ready for a makeover ..... check that spring tension like PG says.... and get back to us
