Old post - same question as above. I'm showing 14.4 at regulator and 17+ at the battery, why so high at the battery?!

Check for a connection issue? If the wiring to the VR is bad it will not read the right voltage. The VR should try for 13.5v-14.5 depending on temp and need of charge, but only sees what it sees at the VR.

I don't understand how the voltage would be 14.5 at the VR and 17+ at the battery. I'll have to go through the wiring diagram and try to get a understanding of how it is working.

I'll double check the connections when I do it.

Thanks for the pics! I was able to adjust my regulator down from 17+ volts to 14.5 at the battery. Was super easy to do with the info you provided.

Make sure you check again after the VR cover is reinstalled. Oddly enough, the adjustment acts differently with the cover on, opposed to the cover off.
