2000 TXT shock question
I am restoring a 2000 EZ GO TXT (Shuttle 6). In removing the front end I found I need some new shocks. I have not lifted the rear end but fear I might need shocks on that as well. I have read that the front and rear are the same but some say otherwise. Please advise. This cart is gas if that makes sense.
Also, the only "mod" I see is a coil over the original shock. Any other brands I could try or do I have to go EZ Go here? Thanks, Tom Goodale |

Re: 2000 TXT shock question
I put some hydraulic shocks on mine for a very short period of time. It rode like a tank and ended up bending the shock mounts. The front and rear shocks on my cart are the same. I have a '96 txt gas and we should have the same setup. Also note that the shocks on a cart are not the same as a car or truck. These shocks only have a spring in them unlock automotive shocks which are gas or nitrogen charged. I was once told by a shop owner that cart shocks never wear out but he sure kept plenty in stock. But I did replace mine and noticed that the new shocks were firmer and more responsive than the old ones. So replacing them will help with ride quality.

Re: 2000 TXT shock question
I ran into the same issue with my 2001 - some catalogs list different P/N for front & rear, others, the same. I ended up buying both from Buggies Unlimited to see what was up. I ended up using P/N 5006 on both front and rear. The other P/N was a smaller OD case (wimpier), and slightly shorter travel. The 5006 was a beefier shock. Also bought some EZ-GO bellows for them from a Workhorse, and they look cool

Re: 2000 TXT shock question
The shock mounts will not effect the eay the cart sits because the Shocks do not support any weight. If the shock mounts are bent, then you will need to re enforce them once you got them straight. If you dont, they will bend again with less pressure than what bent them in the first place. It being a '96 you may need new leafs, one may be sagging more than the other.

Re: 2000 TXT shock question
i think ezgo's just have a thing for leaning to the drivers side for some reason. mine did until i put the ifs front end on it, and my brothers does even with new leaf springs up front. but, if you need or want to new leafs. my brother may make you a good deal on his. we put new leafs on his workhorse which has a 5" lift with 26" tires. he realized after it was to late that the leafs were for a standard txt. we have ordered new leafs for it, so he will have a set taking up space in my shop.

Thanks. I'm going to look at it more this afternoon. It's lifted but don't know how much and don't know if it's something custom, homemade, or aftermarket. I'll try to get pics this evening.
