Battery Question

I have an Ezgo Marathon ALL STOCK. Original 1991 Parts. It is a 36v Cart with the original 36v Curtis controller. My question is,

Can I use (5) 8Volt Battery's adding up to 40V to run my Stock Ezgo marathon 36v Cart. If so How Long will it Last?

If Not.....

Can I use (4) 8Volt Battery's adding up to 32V to run my Stock Ezgo marathon 36v Cart. If so How Long will it Last?

Both under voltage and over voltage is bad for your controller and will shorten the life of it, nobody can say how long it will last. It may last 6months or a nano second? Check your controller and solenoid ratings and power the cart within the limits posted on them.

Yay, My Setup of 32v Will Work. The Controller can handle 24-36V.

Running at lower voltage like that will result in higher amp draws and higher operating temps for all components including the controller, cables, motor, F&R, & Solenoid.


You will also experience a drop off in performance and since you are using 8v batteries which hold less amperage and drawing more amperage to do the same job .... you'll have shorter run times with lesser performance.

BUT, it will operate.

Well, I will just have to keep an eye on it as I drive and see how it responds to different things. I will see how long it lasts and How hot it Gets When driving.

Also, how should I charge this 32 v system. Could I use a 12 v car charger?

That's another problem... I've not seen one. I don't know if they make one... I'm beginning to think this isn't made to happen

Why do you want to drop voltage when their are no gains to be made ?? Have you scored some 8v batteries ??

Well all of my 6v Batteries are Bad. I'm Sick of spending Thousands of dollars on Batteries.
