Any tips on which solder to use and where to get it? I use a 2% silver solder for battery work with my RC electric aircraft from hobby shops but have never tackled a large 4ga. lug. Will a butane micro torch provide enough heat?
Here is a video I found on Youtube about soldering lugs. Any comments would be appreciated. |

I would skip that video.
The wires are not tinned, the solder is not hot enough and the connection is a cold joint - happened as soon as he moved the wire in the still molten solder. I would use adhesive lined shrink tubing and that i snot the way to heat it. |
