Default 1897 EZGO gas cart will not move.

I recently bought my first cart and it's an '87 EZGO gas cart for golf course use. I had it moving pretty good for a while but now it is struggling to engage to move in reverse and won't go forward at all. Plug, choke cable, drive belt, alternator belt are all brand new. Someone suggested it may be compression but not sure. If it is the compression how do I check and adjust?

If it is as you say an "1897" Ez-Go cart, you could make more money showing it as a museum piece. No one had probably ever seen a golf cart before the mid 1950s.

I was going to comment on how the EZGO's from the last century were known to be sluggish, but You beat me to it, LOL ...

Is it trying to start but won't, or when it does runs like poop and has zero power? Try checking the crank seals - jack up the carts rear end so it doesn't run away on You, and step on the gas while spraying some carb cleaner into the front fan, then do the same while spraying the carb cleaner at the rear of the engine where the crankshaft exits the block. If either test result in a POP or the cart actually starting, that crank seal is the culprit (there are 2, one in the front and one in the rear) ...

Try that (likely culprit) and if nothing, let us know and we can go from there
