Default Start at the beginning...

I am considering buying a Club Car DS with 10 year old batteries. Knowing that I will have replace the batteries I would like to get the correct set to begin with. I have read the sticky battery thread which was helpful, but I am looking for a reference which compares current available batteries. I know amps are important so I would be upgrading to 2gauge wires (Thanks ScottyB). Also there is probably a plume motor, high current solenoid and controller in the future.

Is there a trade off between weight, amperage and cost. I noted that Trojan Ranger 160 weigh 76 pd, T890 weigh 69 pd and T875 weigh 63 pds. Are there better brands? Exide or US battery? Locally I can buy new 170amp Powertron for $87. Trojan T875 for $113.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Invision,

I posted some CL links in the parts thread you started. What is the price on this cart? I live about 4 hrs above you, I dont have a cart to sell you but I have been buying Club Cars for the last 3yrs from Atlanta to your area. I know the prices well.

Trojan 890 or Crown 190s. I've used the crown 165 for non performance carts (grocery getters)

The Rangers are legit. I doubt anyone stocks them and they are a couple hundred bucks each
