You need to tie them together with a copper bus or a short cable jumper.
If you move that wire to the other post on the bottom, the car should go only on forward...

If you read my post that I linked to earlier in this thread, I showed how I used the aluminum bars out of the old F-N-R switch to pass power. They are even already drilled for the proper bolt spacing.

I made sure that the aluminum bars were only used to pass power to the reverse side, so I had good copper connections in forward. For the minimal time I run my cart in reverse, it doesn't cause any problems.

I took the aluminum bars from the old switch, as seen in this picture:

I cleaned them up, and installed them on the 36v switch, like this:

Alternatively, several others had mentioned flattening a piece of copper pipe.

Well its done..and I did exactly what you guys said to. I used the plate from the old F/R switch and it works fine..only difficult part was that I stripped the head of the F/R screw so I couldn't take it off to put the bar on...a little blood, a little swearing and a little help from a buddy and it is done! Thanks everyone for all the advice...I truly do appreciate it!

Now... if it would just go faster!!! LOL!

All you got to do is throw money at it and it'll go faster.
