Not totally true, several bigger "overall diameter" wheel/tire combos will fit without rubbing. I think -10 to -20mm backspacing should be good. Any positive spacing will result in outer tire treads rubbing on floorboard stuff, and "sticking out the sides" look. (now i am looking for fender flares).

cgtech.....the wheels he is looking at are only 6" wide and are made for golf carts.....so I am sure they will work just fine.

Smoky, I recently put some 205/30-14 on my unlifted RXV and they fit fine. No problems at all. Almost wish I went with a bit larger tire to add some sidewall. There is plenty of room.

I know I'm digging up an old thread, which I apologize for, but I thought it would be better than making a new one.

I'm getting ready to place an order for 14" wheels and street tires for an RXV. It's clear that the 205/30-14 will fit, but how about a 225/40-14? Specifically the Duro Excel Touring tire. Is it true to size?

I will be putting the tires on a 14x7 ET-25 wheel.

I've seen pictures of the 205/30-14 and they look just a little too small for a stock height RXV. I have also read that the rear will require some trimming to fit a 21" diameter tire. Is it plastic trimming or metal trimming?

Edit: I found more threads that I didn't see before.
This thread says they'll fit with trimming.

This thread says that 21" tires need a lift in the rear.

Does anyone know for certain? Or is it maybe dependent on if heavy duty springs have been installed?

The trimming i do when installing 14" wheels on an rxv, is plastic, It is actually part of the rear bumper assembly.

You trim it inside the wheel well.

I ordered a set of 14x7 wheels and the 21" Duro tires. I'll report back with a picture, if they fit.

These definitely fit with a trim of the plastic like others have stated. I still need to trim just a little more away since I get a little bit of rubbing in corners and over bumps.

No picture yet, because it's raining out and I can't get a good shot in the poor lighting.

How much "trimming" was done?
Any pics of the trimming?
