99 txt sluggish on any incline
I am new to gas golf carts,I have a 99 txt that I have put new plugs new air filter new gas filter new coil new belts and adjusted the valves . It has a lift and 25 in tires . I can put in neutral and run the Rpms up till you would think it is going to take off flying . But put it in gear on very small incline and the motor just bogs down and barely pulls it's self. I have done all I can think of , I also turned governer up. Any help would be appreciated. I did pull carb off and clean it .

Are the clutches opening and closing properly?

Clutch looks like they are opening and closing right. If belt was slipping it should still rev up high I would think but I don't know.

Re: 99 txt sluggish on any incline
It was doing this before I done the valve adjustment so i decided to do that . I read where one said do it cold and one said do it hot . So I adjusted them hot at .004 turned the motor till cam lobe was down and put the feeler between cam and rocker.

Re: 99 txt sluggish on any incline
I've done it both ways and don't really see a difference. I was asking about the clutches because if they aren't working together it will cause you a bit of trouble... Have you tried jacking it up and running it? How about verify good fuel flow by pulling the gas line at the carb and turning it over... Should see a good flow of gas coming out... I would also pull the carb and double check float setting. How's the compression? Borrow a guage and check it. Low compression would warrant a rebuild, which isn't that hard to do. I'm in the middle of one at the moment.

Re: 99 txt sluggish on any incline
I think the general consensus is to do valves cold.. Seems like I remember Ruredy mentioning that cold is the way to go otherwise when it's cold you'll have tight valves.

Re: 99 txt sluggish on any incline
Thanks for your reply. I did pull the fuel line off and check it had great pressure. I will go back and adjust valves cold. I will also jack up and put in gear to see what happens.

Ok, and check the compression. Should read over 100 and I think 125 is minimum can't remember though.
