Default Getting to know my '08 CC...

First...I'm new to the cart world. Trying to find as much info I can on the cart I recently purchased. From the serial number this is what I've got so far.

2008 CC (Electric I.Q.) (48 Volt Regen)

I'll do more searching on the "IQ" as I'm not quite sure what that means. Can someone give me a quick run down of the difference between the DS and the Precedent other than looks...?

Also any links to additional info for this CC and things I really need to watch out for...?

I'm searching all over the forum trying to get as much info as possible. Thanks...

DS used the same basic body style from 1980's on, and used either a series ( F&R lever under right leg ) motor system or a Shunt ( REGEN ) system since 1995, while the Precedent is an updated body and complete redesign through out and only comes with IQ system. DS 2004 and up and Precedent both use the same electronics in the later model units like yours. IQ ( INTELLIGENT QUANTUM ) is the latest electronic controlling used since 2000.5 on later models of SEPEX ( SHUNT ) MOTORS. F&R control operates with a rocker type switch located under drivers right leg and on IQ systems also use an additional switch under seat ( RUN-TOW ) to cut power to motor speed sesnsor while servicing anything electrical and to be able to tow cart without damage to controller and motor by eliminating the braking action and must be towed at 5 MPH or less. WARNING FOLLOW OWNERS MANUAL "EXACTLY FOR PROPER DISCONNECT-RECONECT PROCEDURE" BEFORE DOING ANY CLEANING OF BATTERYS AND CABLES , OR WHEN WORKING WITH ANY ELECTRICAL CONTROLS.
First was the REGEN 1, and then REGEN 2, and now IQ ( ALL MOTORS ARE SEPEX ) all having a RPM speed sensor on outboard end of motor that engages braking action when accelerator is let up.

Welcome to BGW D.J.! (my nickname also!)

You can get an owners manual here:

http://www.clubcar.com/resources/own...s/default.aspx

If you need to get more in depth, you'll need a Maintenance Service manual,
(available from either BGW's fine sponsors or your local Club Car dealer)
If you need to get MORE in depth... there will be "supplements" you can get for your cart also,
but from what I've found, the supplements tend to repeat allot of stuff that are in the original Maintenance Service manual.

Happy Carting!

I hope I'm not "stepping on your toes" OLD MEC... I know, YOU know your stuff when it comes to "sparkies"

Thanks Don...appreciate the warm welcome. I will definately be looking into getting the Service manual as well. BGW looks to have a wealth full of knowledge on our carts so I'll be spending plenty of hours searching through all the threads...what did I get myself into...
