I`ve often wondered if it hurt to keep charger plugged in while driving. Not sure but I don`t think the OBC chargers will let you drive while plugged in. Don`t quote me on that one as I`m not sure. CartTrader |

![]() Charger on the cart while driving...
From what I see in the wiring diagrams, 36V carts (resistor, or controller) don't have an OBC, Obviously... it runs with the charger plugged in! IMO... the charger is not really... Ummm... "Road Worthy" Hitting bumps, or rattling around MAY affect the charger itself! .02 |

![]() I am not sure about leaving the charger plugged into the cart while driving, but Club Car does offer on-board chargers for both the 36v and 48v carts, so under normal golf style driving, the charger should be fine. If you are like the rest of the crew, I would leave the charger at home before hittin the trails. :O)

![]() The OBC was designed so that you could not drive off with the charger plugged in. We have repaired many chargers that have had the DC cords snatched out of them. As much as I do not care for the OBC system, that part of it was surely a plus!

![]() I know that at Ft. Wilderness in Florida all of their carts are hardwired to the charger on board and come equipped with a power reel cord for the folks to plug in their rented carts throughout the park. I'm sure it's a simple nip & tuck to do the same for a personal cart, disabling the OBC to sense this.

![]() Yes, but the OBC is required as a ground for the electrical system and it reads the voltage used and tells the charger when to shut off, so unless you put a timer in the charger and ran a jumper wire from the solenoid straight to the main ground, the OBC has to remain.

![]() My main reason for leaving the charger behind is:
The only place to put it while riding around is, in the bagwell under the rear seat... Sorry, But that's where my Beer cooler goes!!! ![]() First things first!!! ![]() |
