vanguard stator and rectifier

i have searched and im not finding much on stators, rectifiers, and such. i picked up a 18hp vanguard. i ordered a rev kit and thinner head gaskets from cpp. i started breaking the engine down tonight and have found a few issues. the engine did not have the rectifier on it when i got it and i could see the wires coming off the stator so there for i couldnt identify what amperage it was. i got the fly wheel off and the stator is not in very good shape. since i already needed a rectifier, can i buy a new stator and matching rectifier that can be what ever amperage i want or will i have to go back with what the engine came with originally.

You might holler at chazdo2, he has a 96 16hp that threw a rod and is looking to sell what is left of the engine. Including the charging circuit etc... Might save you some money and get you some spare parts to boot.

You're limited by the size of the alternator magnets, they can only do what they can do. Measure the length, either 21/32 or 29/32 and the length, either 7/8 or 1-1/32, and get back........Monies on 7/8 x 21/32, regulated 10 amp charging circuit.

thanks guys, flint ill measure them tonight when i get home. the stator and coils will get me by for the time being, but i want to replace them soon. ive only got 4 weeks to get the motor put back together and installed before my next event. after that i have till the end of nov. to take it back out and do some fancy stuff to it.

You can usually find these on FleaBay once you know the size.
