Re: Trying to get to 30mph w/23" tires
Tire pressure CAN make a huge and very noticeable difference in top end speed. I just had an "issue" the other day with my old resistor 3 wheel cart going slower than normal, seemed like it wasn't getting full power to the motor, and it was fresh off a charge.
The problem? Checked all the tires and they were low! Not extremely noticeably so, but they had lost some air over winter. I aired them to where I usually run them, and wouldn't you know.... my top end speed came back! |

Re: Trying to get to 30mph w/23" tires
well tony.....I would be contacting PQ.....seeing as how I too have a SERIES cart and I am running the same controller you are.....but I am only running 36v.....and I am still at 27 mph......if I were to bump to 48v I could get close to 34 or so.....and YES I am running 23" tires as well.
so at this point, you need to be talking to Robie. |

Re: Trying to get to 30mph w/23" tires
Last time I called him I had already sold my other motor and he told me to just send it back if i was not happy. That is a lot of shipping charges when the communication was ther up front telling him a minimum of 30mph

22MPH on stock tires (18") is 5,111 RPM. You said that was at 36V, but you didn't say what motor it was with. If it was the currently installed PQ motor and you changed to 23" tires as well as upping the pack to 48V, I think you ought to be getting more than 27 MPH also, but I don't know what the motor's Torque/RPM curve looks like. |

Re: Trying to get to 30mph w/23" tires
What are you using for speedometer? I am assuming it is most likely accurate, but perhaps something else to look at? I get 28.5 mph @ 50+ volts with my plumquick bandit on 205/65 10 tires (20"), the windshield is up and my cart is perhaps 100 lbs or so heavier than yours. 23 inchers on my ride would calculate to almost 32 mph. I am not familiar with drag that may result from the higher profile of lifted carts, but I am assuming lifted cart drag loses would be minimal?
