On that 87, mine, an 88,has two 6mm holes near the center and six more farther out.
I'd be tempted to use them. But I'm even less scared than bright. I recall talk of transposed red/blue (?) wires causing a similar issue? |

The switched red, and blue wires on the pulsar come from doing the HEI conversion. I don't see that happening on a stock ignition system.
