Default 1989 Carryall backfire problem

Good morning all,

I trust everyone had a good Labor day.

Over the weekend while using our Carryall to haul brush and tree limbs, it backfired twice while running.

They were pretty substantial pops and honestly put a little fear into my boys. Kinda funny actually.

I am thinking it is running too rich and building up in the exhaust system (not sure if the exhaust is NOS it kinda looks cobbled together). My questions is has anyone had this problem and if it is running to rich where can i go to find the proper settings.

Thanks!

Mine backfired randomly (more often when letting off of the gas), until I replaced the impulse line to the fuel pump. I think it had some hairline cracks in it. Since replacing the impulse line it hasn't backfired once. Cheap fix and worth a shot for you.

Make sure the air filter is in the box or you will have flames a few feet coming out of your exhaust and alot of the stuff on these look cobbled together guess they were built to drive on golf courses and not do 30 mph and go through a foot of mud
