Re: I hate stock battery tie downs
Since i already missed my shot at a "slam dunk". If the ones you have now are not corroded into the abyss, get a bucket, fill with water & baking soda, submerge all parts for a while till no bubbles at all (rubber & metal parts), rinse with clean water, dry, coat with "car undercoat" or "truck bed liner" (these are at hardware store). This will add another 5-10 years to their life. If yours are gonners, make new ones.

Re: I hate stock battery tie downs
Mine are in good shape, I keep them that way. It`s that Jesus Cross plate hold down, It`s an acid collector and it fits very close to my cable ends and that makes me nervous. And they don`t work very well for me.
Another thing, in my novice opinion, I think with those tie downs it`s easy to over tighten and bulge the batteries. I`m thinking that could, not be good, ut I don`t know, you guys tell me? Dave |

Re: I hate stock battery tie downs
Do your hold downs still have the extra rubber "bumper" on them? It sounds like your hold downs have been replaced at one point with G2 holddowns, which are supposed to also have PN : J41-82121-00-00 slipped over them. Theyre appearantly incredibly expensive & hard to find these days.

Re: I hate stock battery tie downs
The hold down rods and plate are all metal, no rubber. I bought them 4-5- years ago. That's why I wrap the plate in duck tape for some insulation. That's why I hate them!

Just happened to have one in my phone. No rubber anywhere on the puppies.

Yes, I see, you get out and start bouncing around, and the one could ground out against the post!! I'd put a rubber strip under that one area and up against that one post!! To close for my comfort!!
