I bought mine on amazon for 109$ with free shipping if I remember correctly, I couldn't afford $350 for OEM , but before doing that I would try the VR just because its cheaper.

Yup, tried disconnecting both the voltage reg and stop relay. Checked the brushes in my starter but havent yet pulled it apart to check everything in there. Like i said i think i might just try and jump the fuse and run a ground from battery to frame and make the whole thing grounded.

I also ordered up one of those mini circuit breakers. Might wait and try that thing first before i go about jumping the fuse

Try disconnecting the back up buzzer micro switch.

backup buzzer has always been disconnected, we dont use them here as theyre annoying and distracting if youre near the members playing on the course

What do yall think about just running a ground directly from fuse to the frame? As opposed to jumping the fuse and grounding the battery? That way instead of running ground through the wire to battery to frame itll be a direct ground along with the battery grounded to frame... i think thatll help keep the wires from getting too hot...

welp, so far no good. so heres what ive found so far... Hooked a ground from batter straight to frame, bad idea evidently. Wires started smoking almost immediately from the pedal switch. so i cant ground to frame for whatever reason which is driving me nuts. but i did find that if i unhook the small wire that comes off the battery at its connection directly below the solenoid/ VR area, the fuse will not blow. HOWEVER, I am not sure where exactly this wire leads as it goes into the loom, and im thinking it goes right to the fuse... Back to square one i guess...

You need to be careful here!! Replacing the fuse with a wire could burn up the wiring feeding the (key switch / accel. switch / voltage regulator circuit) if the voltage regulator happens to be shorted internally. It would be wise to be certain that the voltage regulator is not the problem. As others have suggested, you need to remove the fuse and start testing wire by wire to determine where the short may be from frame to battery minus. (There are only 3 or 4 circuits to test). A good start would be to pull the voltage regulator, then see what you have. I have a simplified G16 schematic type wiring diagram that I could send you to give you a better idea of what you are checking. I would need your E-mail if you are interested. Good luck - RAY

Sorry, I was too slow with my response !! You may have a wire somewhere with the insulation rubbed through to the frame. RAY
