Default G9 shift cable adjustment

Replaced both shift cables, F&R, but have not been able to adjust cables enough to engage the transmission in both F&R. The arm that the cables are attached to on the transmission moves about 95% of the way and almost engages the transmission but not quite. I can use my hand to move it the rest of the way and there is like a click to move the last fraction of an inch to engage. The cables are tightened/shorten completely but it feels like it needs to be tightened a bit more to get the transmission to "click" into gear.

Was that's the original problem and why you changed the cables? If so, problem was not in the cables.
Anybody else jack with the carts differential?

The cart had been running fine, but either I had a short in the wiring or a bird built a nest in the engine compartment and it caught fire, because the next time I went to go riding it looks like there was a fire in the engine compartment and the covers on the cables were melted off in addition to the #2 accelerator cable and a vacuum hose was burned through. You could not move the handle to shift front or reverse.

Sounds as thought the cart was searching for a ground and found it through the cables, it happens.

take the cables off from the trans and see if you can shift it easily into forward and reverse. If not, your issue is in the trans. if it shifts fine, then its a cable adjustment which with new cables you should be able to just even them up in the middle and call it a day.
