It won't make very much bass unless you create an enclosure. This would be installed like an infinite baffle, but the the front and rear wave are not completely separated. My advise is put an enclosure in the bag well and see if you really need that much bass in a cart.

Re: 8" JL Audio Marine Subwoofer in a DS Questions
ok so youre a gas cart so there is indeed more room to mount it in the body. that sub would perform fine in the body as a freeair woofer and I don't think the heat would affect it that much. on my cart I mounted a jlaudio cp108LGW3v3 (8w3 ported microbox) under the rear seat firing down into the bagwell. still gave me space in my bagwell for my airtank and the speaker had something to load against so it sounded great.

Re: 8" JL Audio Marine Subwoofer in a DS Questions
That is not the problem. The issue is infinite baffle installations require you separate the front and rear wave distance equal to the lowest frequency intended to reproduce. It will work, but not nearly as well as if it were installed in the wall of a house. Bass wavelengths are HUGE. Put that driver in a box, and it will produce way more bass in a golf cart. The same rules apply to any other brand, or even the midrange drivers as well. Two coax drivers installed in the seat bin wall behind your legs will cancel bass from each other under the seat.

Why not do something like this and mount it to the bottom of your rear seat? That's what I'm planning on doing.
