Re: Battery sounds like it's boiling
It's gassing which is normal (if more than one was doing it) but, the rotten egg smell indicates a problem. Check the voltage on all the batteries individually and post the numbers here.

Re: Battery sounds like it's boiling
I've been charging my batteries and the charger won't seem to go past 12 volts while it's plugged in. I added distilled water to them because they seemed low and since then they haven't been the same. Any help would be appreciated

Where are you getting a 12V reading? I assume that you replaced a bad battery with the clone Trojan. I'd bet some of the rest of the pack are failing and the clone is overcharging/cooking. A good way to know is check voltage on each battery. |

Re: Battery sounds like it's boiling
I have to get a tester and then I'll check them and post it. Sorry I meant 12 amps off the charger display. Do you think the bad off Brand battery is ruining my other batteries

Re: Battery sounds like it's boiling
The other way around. You'll need the voltage of each battery to see a better picture of what may be going on.

Re: Battery sounds like it's boiling
I get the rotten egg smell quite often while its bubbling. Once the charging is finished/ standby the smell stops along with bubbling. I have an OBC Lester charger.

Re: Battery sounds like it's boiling
The off Brand one is older and I have a 10 yr old battery also. The other 4 look like newer Trojans. I'll try to test them tomorrow and post the results

The Trojans will have a date stamp on the negative post, a letter and a single number. Example: D5 would equal April 2015 The 10 yr old battery, wow.... I do believe your individual battery readings will tell the story. See if you can borrow a digital meter to test voltage with. |
