Western cart batteries
Cart is Western 36 volt bought in Yuma last spring. Can I go with three 12 volt when changing out the six 6 volt that are getting tired? I know zero about electric carts.
Thanks, Dave |

Re: Western cart batteries
Dave,
Battery Options for 36 volt using Trojan golf cart batteries (as an example): 6 pieces of 6 volt Trojan batteries (T105) have a 225 Amp Hour rating (20 hr rate) 3 pieces of 12 volt Trojan batteries (T1275) have a 150 Amp Hour rating (20 hr rate). You can use either voltage of battery to build a 36 volt pack but the capacities are different. The capacity (amp hour rating) for the 6 volt batteries is considerably more than the 12 volt batteries (50% higher). And more capacity equals more run time. In short, the more lead and acid you put in a cart, the longer the run time (to the tune of about 0.45 amp hours per pound of battery). |
