Default club car starts w/o pushing peddle

I have a 2005 club carryall. Has not always been responding to pushing start peddle, but after pushing it several times it would start. I changed the battery today as the cold weather took it toll on it. When I turned key on, S/G started spinning w/o pushing gas peddle. When I push the peddle the engine will start. When I stop, the S/G will not stop spinning until I turn the key off. There have been no mods done that I am aware of as I am probably the 3rd owner. I did continuity check on kill micro switch and it tests good. In short my problem is as soon as I turn the key on in gear the S/G tries to start the engine and as soon as I give gas the engine starts. when I stop the engine/starter don't stop until I turn the key off. Thanks for any help.

Did you take any of the wires off of the micro switches and by chance put them on the wrong terminals.

Without the brake set, see if the gas (Go) pedal has side to side play, or if it pulls just a little bit back towards the seat.
The pedal shaft bushings are known to wear out and cause that problem.

Thanks for the info. I went out and checked the peddle. Yup, lots of play both forward and back as well as side play. Is that a replaceable bushing or do you have to get a new peddle assembly?

No... you don't have to replace the whole pedal assembly!
Check to see IF the engine won't crank over while pulling a GO pedal towards you when you turn the key on...

Then... you may want to have someone wiggle the pedal while your looking at the assembly from underneath!
Wheels chocked, key OFF, and removed, (disconnecting the battery wouldn't hurt either!)
It could be as easy as loose mounting bolts or nuts, or it could be a worn bushing.

Here's a pdf of the Illustrated Parts list for your cart,
Pages 4-24 and 4-25 will give you somewhat of an idea for what to look for!

Thanks for reply Lockman. In the process I started tracing all the wires and switches. Turned out the accelerator switch was bad. I originally checked it mounted in place. when I actually removed it and checked it, turned out the switch was bad. Having the switch out and able to move it around yielded the no continuity just by moving it around. I could also hear something inside rattling. Found another in my junk drawer replaced it and we are now back on the road. I am going to replace the bushing etc on the Go peddle. They are worn real bad. Thanks for your input..
