Default How do you know when to stop driving?

Being new to golf carts I'm wondering when do you know your batteries need recharging? I'm not talking about recharging after every drive, I want to know how you know they need recharged while driving.

Do you rely on the battery meter? I've drive mine over 10 miles and the meter still shows 7/8th charge. They are new, but I find it had to believe I can drive 60-70 miles before recharging.

Does the cart slow down or show some other indication it needs to be recharged?

I don't want to drive the cart too long and damage the batteries. I do recharge them after every drive.

Get you a plug and play charge meter like this one. Never go below 50% on your cart batteries. Here is a chart to go by.

Once those new batteries get broken in you should be able to run about 40-50 miles on level terrain before reaching the minimum charge level. A digital voltmeter will give you a better indication of battery level than the bar type meters.

Any simple 2 wire digital battery meter will work just fine for real time pack voltage reading right in the dash. Never let the pack get below 48.4v. Best if you recharge sooner like 49v. See and Print the chart attached.

Thanks everyone for the info. Now I know what to watch out for.

I also like that gauge better than what now. Mine is a little foggy.

So I installed this gauge and at full charge (50.9V) it shows a 91%. Anyone else have this issue with this gauge?

I have that meter mine shows 100% full charge but drops fast only after about 5 miles or so. It drops to about 78-80% but stays there for a while before dropping any lower. I also hooked a volt meter to read voltage compared to the meter it's pretty spot on so far.
