2009 EZGO RXV 48 Volt sometimes won't operate
I have a 2009 EZGO RXV 48 volt and it recently started acting up. Sometimes it will operate in forward and reverse. I hear the solenoid click when I depress the accelerator pedal and it operates normally. Then sometimes I don't hear a click from the solenoid when I depress the accelerator pedal and it doesn't move.
When it is in Tow/Maintenance mode and I place it in N I can roll the cart just fine every time. So, I don't believe that the brake is locked up. When I initially turn the key to anything other than off I hear the normal series of clicks. |

I had the same problem with my 2009 RXV...It was an intermittent faulty pedal switch...changed it ..now OK

One thing you might try next time it happens. Pull all the way back on the pedals (brake and gas) toward you to make sure there back. If there not all the back the cart won't pass the start up test.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will test that on Monday when I get back home.

Re: 2009 EZGO RXV 48 Volt sometimes won't operate
I started testing again today and now I am not getting a clicking out of the solenoid. I found a label on the side of the solenoid stating that it is a 36V solenoid. Should a 36V solenoid be on a 48V golf cart?

Yes for a 2009 model. New models of RXV's have 48v solenoids. Yours is correct for your year.
Early RXV's (2008 and maybe 2009) had troublesome solenoids. Yours could be original and may or may not contribute to your problem. Suggest you replace it as a mater of course. Wait for an expert to see what they will recommend. Possibly a Trombetta. |

Yes 36 volts is correct and the solenoid you have I am surprised made it this long. You want one of the new style HD Trombrettas. There are many different base plates so find the one that will work for you. You might have to run a new wire from the solenoid to the controller and put new terminals on the activation wires..

Tested the solenoid and it is clicking when directly attached to batteries. When it is installed in the cart it doesn't click when the key is turned to R N F while in Run.
Thinking it is now the controller. |

Like stated previously, make sure your gas and brake pedal are pulled all the way back. I've seen a bunch oif them that the area around the gas pedal had sand and junk in it and needed a good cleanup before working properly.

This can't be stressed enough. It is like EZGO designs their pedal boxes to collect sand and other material. I recently replaced a rusted out one that was throwing 3.8vs when it was fully pulled up. No fun to replace either.
