Default FE350 oil pump priming

Just re-assembled a FE350. I used to prime the oil pump on on old cars by inserting a flattened rod in place of the distributor and turning it with a drill. Is there any way to pre-lube the assembled motor prior to installation and startup? Everything was well lubed during installation. I just want to make sure the oil flows as it is supposed to. Thanks

I've never primed one of these and never had a problem. As long as you used assembly lube when putting it all together itll last the 10 seconds until it primes itself just fine

Just leave the spark plug out and crank it for about 10 seconds first time. Then plug her back up and go.

I do that on all kinds of newer car engines all the time because the oil pumps are driven directly by the crankshaft and the only other way to prime the system is with an electric pump and adapter hooked to the oil filter housing.
Time consuming and messy, and you need a dozen different adapters for all the different engines.

It's not quite the "perfect" method, but it works close enough that it won't fudge anything up in the process.
