Got the call. Bad motor. $1000 for repair. Has motor in stock but not wiring harness. Skeptical at very best. Repair approved but we shall see.

I had same problem with my 2009 RXV....put key in N...tow/run to tow....tried moving by hand...no go locked up....checked voltage at brake plug OK..checked continuity of brake coil OK...put plug back in...was about to remove brake thinking as you did... brake frozen when my arm brushed the brake plug which was plugged in ..and I heard 'CLICK'...ended up the plug was not making good contact

Hasn’t done repair yet. Says he has motor but don’t know when he can get wiring harness? Because of Covid -19

There had been very few motor failures due to the motor design used in the RXVs. They are sealed and have no brushes to fail. Only recently have actual motor failures become an issue, due to a joker in the panhandle bit hacking RXV controllers to cause the motors to overrev and grenade. I would suspect any dealer that claims an RVX motor has failed without explaining how that is possible. It would have to have suffered bearing failure bad enough to damage the windings, or a short to toast the windings. Even a bad connection of the motor leads to the windings can be repaired. A new RXV motor actually costs more than $1000 the last time I checked. I've bought entire 2008/2009 RXVs with motors in them for less than that!

I suspect that the dealer has diagnosed the problem as a motor encoder issue rather than a brake problem. On the Danaher carts the motor encoder is an internal bearing that senses motor speed and direction and connects to the controller via four wires connected to the motor. A Bearing Encoder Service Kit P/N 612595 is available for less than $200. Curtis controller carts use a different encoder which is easier to replace because it is attached to the motor externally.

If it truly is an intermittent brake, I would suspect a faulty connection at the two wire plug where the harness connects to the brake as poster Threeput has mentioned above. I have seen that problem before. In that case you won't need the motor or harness, simply repair or replace the connector.
