Default How to wire up LED lights without Converter

Adding LED Headlights, Taillights, Blinkers and horn. Not using a 36V to 12V Converter. Will be hooking it up to two 6V batteries to get the needed 12V. My question is do I have to use the first 2 batteries in series or can I choose any 2 batteries that are in series with each other? Example battery number 2 and 3 or Batteries number 3 and 4 etc etc? Thanks.

Honestly NOT trying to be "that guy".... but you can choose any two consecutive batteries, those will be the ones that you plan to ALWAYS give you charging issues..

Your charger treats all six batteries "as one" the 2 you use for these accessories will always be lower in output than the rest of the pack. It will get worse over time, causing poor performance and range issues.

Save yourself some serious headaches down the down. Spring for a "switched" 36 to 12v reducer. (has a 36v +, _, and a lead you want switched on by your ignition sw.)

All of the site sponsors offer a number of choices.

Tex is right about the battery draw.

Just click on "Site Sponsors." I use Revolution for most things like this.

I been working on carts for 12+ years (ezgo dealer for 10+). Every 36v TXT with factory lights is an example. They all used batteries 5 & 6 for their lights, and those 2 are always the worst batteries in the test when a failing test score indicates its battery replacement time. Suggesting a DC/DC converter really isnt just to "squeeze a few extra bucks out of your pocket", it really is in your best interest, considering how big an investment your batteries are.

If you insist on just using 2 batteries, yes any consecutive 2 batteries will work. Do not use the frame as a ground, run positive & negative wires to every light/accessory. Using the frame as a ground is a good way to introduce unwanted issues down the road that can be very hard to diagnose.

Sure he could, and that's a fairly popular option. But, it adds another battery for you to charge. It has to be charged separately from the propulsion batteries.
