Default Broken hearted

Several days ago, an 86 year old Marine vet stopped me as I was cruising his neighborhood. He actually chased me down, waving, on his zero turn mower.

He asked me if I could take a look at his EZGo which he just put new batteries in and it wouldn't move.

I followed him to his garage and checked the cart over. He had taken photos of the old batteries before removing them and had the battery cables connected right.

However, he had the rear three batteries installed backwards and they weren't connected in series! He called his son over to turn those three around for us.

I asked him how much he paid for the 6 volt batteries and where he got them. They were Advance Auto Parts batteries! And regular 6 volt automotive batteries at that.

And he only paid $115.00 each for them! He seemed so pleased that the salesman gave him such a good price, I didn't have the heart to tell him they were not deep cycle batteries.

Anyway, it runs now. Not sure how long they will last. I wish him luck.

If he asked for deep cycle and the guy sold him regular automotive batteries, I hope the karma train hits him full bore!

This is true. They do sell them. I would take them back and get the correct ones. Those are made for old cars and tractors.

He won’t get very far on starting batteries. 30-40 minutes of operation and they’ll be just about dead.

That's the problem. I'm sure he just called around and got the best price for "6 volt batteries". I don't think he even knows what deep cycle batteries are. He said they had to order them for him.

He just uses it to move stuff around his 2 acres. Maybe he'll get by with them.

I think he'll be much more upset when his batteries die and he won't understand why than being told he bought the wrong batteries.
