Default Brake lights not working Precedent new LED kit

Please see the wiring diagram attached, LED light kit with plunger style
brake light, I've wired everything according to the wiring diagram, I have turn signals, running lights, but no brake lights.
I ordered 2 kits, took the timer, brake plunger and fuse out of both and tried on the same cart but no brake lights?

I have the whole kit running on 48v to 12v reducer, I did not wire in the relay . Reducer stays on all the time, just LED light kit installed

Any Suggestions?

Are you talking about the timer relay? If yes you need to
wire it in.

Hi Walter, I believe I watched your video on this subject on You Tube?

I have the timer relay wired in, I didn't wire in the relay off the 48v to 12v reducer, I attached pics of the relay not used in the first picture and the wiring currently how I have it hooked up

Maybe the brake lights get 48v using that relay I didn't use, and that's how they get brighter? As I have the whole LED light kit wired onto the 12v side of a 48v to 12v reducer

Thank you !

My understanding is that the relay gets 48v power when the key is turned on and sends 12v to the brake switch when it closes. I’m also having issues but my problem is I accidentally shorted the 48v and no longer have 48v for the relay and the car won’t run. Wonder if I fried the container?

I don't see how you can fry the controller the light kit is on a fuse?

This is amazing I had the exact problem today. Installed new bucket harness everything works, headlights, tail-lights, turn signals, and horn, HOWEVER the brake lights were not working. I did not wire in that relay and now I think I know why that wire was not hot coming off of the bucket harness in the footwell. I wired a hot wire from my reducers fuseblock and it works but I'd like to not have to rig it this way.

The DoubleTake instructions suck so bad and their great YouTube install videos make you eel confident UNTIL they do not match the harness and switches/ print instructions.

The kit that I installed had 4 wires behind the - for the relay it's plug and play
Once I plugged the reliant the brake lights worked perfectly I couldn't believe it
The instructions had 0 instructions on which color wires go to the relay
After numerous calls back-and-forth with the vendor where I bought it they could not figure out the color code and either
By the time the day passed and they figured it out from the manufacturer I already figured it out and had everything working

can you share the what you ended up I have the same 4 wires with two smaller female spades and two larger spades with the relay having 5 connections so it would take some trial and error

Sure here you go, also make sure you have the grey male/ female bullet connectors under the dash right side connected , those power the relay
