Default club car ds missing airbox

so we recently got an older club car ds for pretty cheep. it wasn't running at the time but after replacing the generator, and fuel pump we got it running. the real problem is it is very hard to get it started. the factory air box was already missing when we got it and so we have no choke. once you get it started and it warms up it seems to run great. is there anything we can do to add a choke or make this easier to get started reliably. i don't have any experience with golf carts so sorry if this is a stupid question. we live on a farm and have 3 small children and this thing would make it so easy for my wife to load up the kids and check on animals when I'm at work. i just don't want her to end up stranded because it wont start for her. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Need to know what year it is. Look under the glovebox area on the passenger side, there should be a serial number starting with AG then some numbers. The first 2 numbers are the year.

80’s to 91 was one styleairbox that attached to the carb itself. 91-96 has an airbox that literally plugs into the back of the choke button. 97 and up has yet another style airbox and the choke button actuates a lever that opens and closes the airflow.

All 3 styles are very different. The older anything pre-96 is difficult to find and pricey when you do. 97 and up is still pricey but much much easier to find.

That’s gonna be a hard airbox to find if I’m gonna be perfectly honest. You don’t come across them very often and they’re long discontinued. But good news is once you do fine one it literally won’t take you longer than 30 seconds to install it. And that includes opening the box it came in

Search eBay and post a wanted ad in the classified section here. Maybe someone has one laying around from an engine swap.
