What is this?
Can someone tell me what this is so I can try to order a new one? I went to turn my controller off and noticed it was broke...not sure why it broke. Everything seems to be working fine.

Re: What is this?
It's the flyback diode that protects the controller if the ignition gets turned off while the cart is running. You should replace it! It does nothing under normal operation.

Re: What is this?
The one you have your hand on that is broke is the pre-charge resistor and not the diode. The resistor is recommended for some controllers but the cart will run without it. The diode is on the smaller primary contacts of the solenoid.

Re: What is this?
It looks like a diode to me. Here is an explanation but not necessarily the correct part for you: https://www.golfcarcatalog.com/3-amp...d-control.html
And here is one that has both a diode and resistor. The broken piece in your hand is a diode, but their may also be a resistor under your thumb. https://www.petesgolfcarts.com/elect...tor-and-diode/ |

Looks like an Alltrax XCT regen diode.

Re: What is this?
It IS the regen diode. You can see the diode band on it. It must be replaced in the correct direction or it will pop instantly.

Re: What is this?
Another thing to note from your photo is that it is best practice to install all main high amp cables to directly contact the device, whether it be on a battery, solenoid, contactor, controller, motor, etc.
Any lower amperage connections should be stacked ABOVE the main cables ... this will lower the resistance in the connection and prevent possible overheating. |

Re: What is this?
Sir Nuke, some newer controllers require a diode on the main terminals to protect the controller if the key is turned off while driving
