Default Zone Electric Battery Size

I own a Zone Electric golf cart that I purchased from a private seller. I purchased batteries from a golf cart repair facility but the lights, wipers and radio no longer work. Clearly these were not the right kind but I cannot find any info online about what size batteries to buy? The user manual doesnt specify size (just says 8 6v batteries) which clearly it does matter as the new ones are 6v. Thanks for any info you can provide.

I've dealt with several Zone carts with the 8 x 6 volt configuration. Those "should " be interchangeable, but like so many things there quality differences. Your problem sounds more like a 48 to 12 volt converter issue. Is it possible when batteries were replaced some wires didn't get connected?

Sadly all wires were correct (we had an electrician friend make sure everything was right).

I just want to make sure to buy the right “strength/size”. The original ones were US battery US 250 HC XC (amp hours 280, min @75 175, min @25 635). This one worked but can’t find it anymore (have called everywhere including us battery and their distributors). The ones that didn’t work was US 2200 (amp hrs 232, min @75 122, min @25 474).

Thanks for any advice you have.

I'm not understanding why any 6 volt batteries would not work? Does cart run?
If so, and only your 12 volt system not working, something is not wired correctly or a fuse is blown. You do not have to have a certain brand of 6 volt battery to power cart, but you do have to step down power from 48volts to 12 volts for your lights, etc. Either with a 48 to 12 volt converter or wired to just 2 batteries (12volts).

Like Bama Brad said doesn't matter what manufacturer made the batteries. The original ones simply had a larger AH rating than the ones you replaced with the only difference between the two would be a slightly lowered run time with the new batteries due to the smaller AH rating. I suspect that you either have a voltage reducer that is not wired in to the batteries or the lights were tapped off of 2 of the six volt batteries and is not connected. Look for loose wires hanging in the battery tray area.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the advice and will have someone check out the wiring - sounds like it should be one of these.

Just a side note: Golf carts are not the same as buildings. I've had "professional electricians" destroy components and one even burned his hands.
