Putting Batteries in the bag well
I have a 96 TXT, 480 Amp Logisystem controller going from 36v to 48v. I will go with 8 - 6v T105 batteries. I just acquired an eighty foot roll of 1/0 tinned 'Monster Cable' for $60 I will redo all my cables from #4 to 1/0. The extra two batteries will go in the bag well that will be under the utility box and I have a couple questions.

Re: Putting Batteries in the bag well
It is a very good idea to use some type of restraint. But bungee cords and nylon straps will rot out in a matter of months with the gases. It is also a good idea to support them better. Show us what you come up with!

Re: Putting Batteries in the bag well
As funny as it sounds considering what we put the carts thru,Batteries don't like vibrations and bouncing.Clamp them down tight so that they move only with the cart, not freely on their own.You can make a simple hold-down with a piece of 1" wide flat-stock across each battery and a few pieces of threaded-rod,or a frame made from 3/4" angle-iron that surrounds both batts with a couple hold-down bolts(2 would be fine).Just some thoughts.Always keep in mind that if you roll it,or something else happens, they will become projectiles, and i don't think you'd want one hitting you!Make sure there is a reinforcement under the bag-well as well, they aren't really designed for that kind of weight, and your brackets can tear loose.Hope this helps.

Re: Putting Batteries in the bag well
I think I will make an Aluminum hold down bracket that goes all around the top of both batteries.
Do think they need to be in boxes to seal them? The ones inside are not in a box. |

Re: Putting Batteries in the bag well
those came from wally, with slits to accomodate the cables. had to dremel off the side handles to make it an interference fit.
as chevy says, lots of people carry them. most come with a wide hold down strap also. |
