Default Re: Engine troubles - new FE350

Did you ever find the answer to this? I’m working on the same engine now and I even had a air box completely filled with gas. Rebuilt carb got it to startup and blew gas out the tail pipe and gas in the oil. I believe I’ve narrowed it down to either a stick valve or a blown seal. (It was ran very low on oil for about 2-3 hrs which makes me feel like it’s more of a seal issue.

Youd have better luck starting a new thread with more details as to what you've done, replaced, eliminated, etc. This thread is almost 10 years old...

If you had a stuck valve the motor wouldnt run and wouldnt have any compression so fuel would be the least if your problems. Valve seals can cause smoking condition but wont affect the fuel. You've probably got something else going on, probably the carb itself. The 2 stanchions that hold the float on are plastic, and sealed to the aluminum carb body with an o ring. Over time this o ring will dry out and you'll flood the motor like crazy. No amount of cleaning will fix it, and 99% chance you'll break it trying to get it out and match up the o ring, that part is not replaceable you'll need a new carb if that's the case.

You can in fact replace the O ring. I have purchased several from my local John Deere dealer. If I remember they are about $6 each. Carb on the Gator fe350 is similar. I have used them with success. No freight and no minimum at John Deere.
