Default 2007 st. crank seal oil leak

Just bought and noticed an oil leak at the crank seal on the fan side. Haven,t tried to drain and put 1 1/2 qts in yet. The oil level is 1/4 " under the full line, is this possibly still to much oil ? or are these known to need a crank seal with very low hrs?
