Bicycle speedo, anyone done it yet?
I have a new bicycle speedometer that I never got around to installing on my bike and now want to try and use it for my EZGO. Has anyone done this before? I am thinking of just gluing the magnet to the inside of one tire and making a metal bracket to hold the sensor nearby but am wondering about how to get it accurate. Has anyone done this yet??

I don't see anything that would prevent it from working, as long as the settings in the spedometer allow you to set the proper diameter for your tires. Let us know how it turns out, and take pics. We like those around here.

I was going to try this just haven't gotten around to doing it yet and I have 3 gps's Wonder if you could use a larger magnet so it doesn't have to be so close...

I used a Trek rear wheel speedo on mine and it works very well. The rear wheel model had a long lead. I mounted the sensor on the spindle, cut the snap off of the magnet and attached it to the hub with epoxy. The whole install and setup to about a half hour. I compared it to my TomTom and it was dead on.

that looks good 1bdprecedent!
fyi, i wouldn't let the cable length be the deciding factor on which model to choose... the 2 wires are easy to extend and reed switches are a dime a dozen. (ok, not a dime.... but cheap!) -sj |

It wasn't the deciding factor, that was price. It was only about $3 more than the front mount and it was one less thing I had to deal with. The wireless model was not an option, bad enough having to worry about changing one battery. I went to one of the local high end bike shops and everything seems overpriced in there. I only gave $30 for the speedo, I saw a few others at Wal-Mart the next day and they were $5-$10 cheaper.
