Re: ScottyB's rear Disc brakes
True Dat, but it was the cable brakes you are counting upon saving you that already had a stick problem.
What's a guy to do? |

RIB, Thanks for that link. From the pic's (cable actuated) it looks like there is a spacer outside of the rotor or is that just a cast/non-machined surface ? Also I found a set of rear disk brakes for much less (looks very similar to that in the link you posted). . Any thoughts or recomendations on this ? Thanks |

Looks like capitalism at work to me
Unfortunate that link is to a banned former bgw member and sponsor. It's pretty rare that a Sponsor gets banned. I only know of 2. Try CPP and East Coast Custom. Both are good BGW SPONSORS who sell Ausco cable Brakes. |

Re: ScottyB's rear Disc brakes
Yes. But the probability of both front and rear happening at the same time would be....well...play the multi-million dollar lottery first!!!

Re: ScottyB's rear Disc brakes
Okay Dave, Lets try to get back on track with your original question......I just got off the phone with the manufacture... the 4 wheel system now uses a dual master cylinder. Maybe because of just what you fear. With a dual cylinder you can cut the fronts off and still have rears or vise versa.
Now what are you gonna do? |

Scotty, I'm not attempting to downplay your brakes. In fact....I probably would have gone with your brakes had I known about 'em 4 years ago when I installed my Jake's. But.....you know how that goes. It's good to know that your dual system has a dual chamber master cyl. Honestly, the terrain that I travel....it's a real possibility to lose a brake line via a log or rock. Now....I really like the simplicity of your rear bolt on disc brakes. But, I just don't like the fact that the caliper is hanging on the bottom. For where I travel, it's an accident waiting to happen. Can I move that caliper to the top or the rear?? Dave |
