Raptor Motor with stock components

I bought a completely stock 2005 Ezgo txt series cart about a month ago, with the exception of 4 gauge cables. I had planned on upgrading the controller, f/r switch and solenoid before getting a new motor, until I came upon a ge raptor motor for $275, after I seen it lists for $750 I jumped on it. It is rated at 6.1hp @ 5330rpm. My question is am, I in any danger of burning something up by running this motor for a little while before I upgrade everything else?

However, to answer your electrical question:
With the stock controller in place, the new motor will still be limited to stock Amp levels, so the rest of the system shouldn't get hit much, if any, harder than they do with the stock motor.
On the other hand, the new motor won't perform very well since it'll be Amp starved and you'll probably over heat the stock system because you put your foot into it more.

Bottom Line: Use your head and it'll work. Use your foot and it could turn into toast.

I have had the Raptor in my 2002 TXT for 6 years. The only upgrade is an axe controller and 0 gauge cables. Its on 20" tires. The solenoid and and fr switch are stock. No problems whatsoever. It will do 25mph on the gps. I am about to upgrade to 48 volts or possibly 72 volts. Oh and the 4 gauge cables everyone recomends melted!

I got the raptor motor in today and installed in about 30 minutes. All I can say is WOW! It exceeded my expectations for just a motor upgrade. 22mph on flat pavement, and hit about 25-26mph downhill. I ran it about 2 miles and checked all wires and connections for excessive heat or melting, nothing was abnormal. The only thing I noticed is that this motor is a little louder, I guess because it is turning twice the rpms as the stock motor. I am still planning on upgrading the controller, f/r switch and solenoid, so for now I will try to keep my foot out of it. Thanks everyone for your help!
