Welcome to BGW!

Your EZ-Go is a 1995, and is probably a Medalist.

yes it is a Medalist. he controller is bad and I am not sure which one I need.

Is it a TXT ?

It is a Series because it does not have a tow switch, but having a hard time with all the available controllers out there. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

A Series Medalist and a Series TXT are virtually identical under the bodywork. Alltrax makes fine controllers that will fit either line.

Generally the AXE line up from Alltrax is the controller of choice for that cart... although there are others. None of the others have the track record the AXE has.

Sorry, but still a bit confused. All the Alltrax controllers are have 3 lugs and mine has 4. Is there a re-wire I must do to convert?

The 4th lug may be a "plug brake" which are typically used in vehicles that go forward and reverse a lot like an electric forklift. I believe a surge can or is created when changing directions while still in motion and a plug brake will bleed this surge off without burning up the motor (Scottyb, please correct this if needed). If your 4th lug is a plug brake and you want to stay with it it is about a $20 upgrade to get an AXE controller with it. evdrives.com has some nice wiring diagrams for the AllTrax controllers.

You can bolt the 2 cables that bolt to A2 together and leave them disconnected or just run straight from motor to F/R. It works either way and to date never heard of any ill effects from anyone making the change. Be sure and tape them up good if you bolt them together. Most people go without the A2 when swapping. If you use it on an alltrax and dont have plug braking set right it'll throw you out the front of the cart. It was a failed attempt by curtis at plug braking it does however work on an Alltrax quite well.

You can ubolt the 2 cables from the A2 terminal on the stock controller and it still runs like before. (2 bolted together to make the circuit)
